My career, until I retired, was being a high school English teacher. One of the schools that I taught at for many years was Spartanburg high school. It was an inner city high school in Spartanburg South Carolina, and was the focus of a book that I wrote that was called a A Thousand Faces, the diary of an eccentric teacher. I was definitely a favorite teacher there, and Brooke was 1 of my favorite students. In fact, Brooke, Natalie, Nora, and others, came to my wedding! When it came time for their 10 year reunion, I was a very special guest invited by the student body, and even though it was hard for me socially as an introvert, I was so happy to go!
