My Friend Stephanie & A Farewell to her Husband, Ryan Schott

Yes, Brian and I made the 12 hour drive to Galeton PA to visit one of my oldest friends, Stephanie, in her grief, as she just lost her husband, Ryan, to pancreatic cancer. When she held me and said, "I just can't believe you're here!" I replied, "I wouldn't be anywhere else."
Ryan Matthew Schott, 56
Germania, Pennsylvania

Ryan Matthew Schott, 56, of Germania, PA, passed away peacefully on October 5, 2025, at the Gatehouse Hospice in Williamsport, surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Wellsboro, PA, Ryan was the son of the late James W. and Donna J. Schott. He was a devoted husband to Stephanie (Stone) Schott and a proud father to Mikayla and Makenna Schott. He is also survived by his brothers Jim (Diane), Rick (Charlene), and Jon (Brenda) Schott, as well as many extended family members and friends who will deeply miss him.

Ryan graduated from Galeton Area School District and earned his Pharmacy degree from the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science. Alongside his wife, Stephanie, he owned and operated Galeton Drug, where he served the community with dedication and compassion for many years. His genuine care for his customers—whom he treated like family—left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

A faithful member of Lighthouse Community Church in Galeton, Ryan lived a life rooted in kindness, service, and love. He was an active member of the Galeton School Board and a passionate supporter of his daughters’ athletic pursuits. Ryan generously gave his time, energy, and resources to support numerous community activities and causes.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, October 12th at 4:00 PM at the First Presbyterian Church in Galeton. Family and friends are warmly invited to attend and celebrate Ryan’s life.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ryan’s memory to the Lighthouse Community Church in Galeton or to the Gatehouse Hospice in Williamsport, PA.

Annie Turns Nineteen : Annie's 19th Birthday

Even though I wanted to make her a spectacular cake, what Annie really wanted was some fancy macarons from a local bakery. It took me a while to find them, but I ordered some special ones for her! I'm afraid the sparkler candles were anticlimactic. Annie also wanted to eat at the local Brazilian steakhouse. So we did! And we took Corey with us!
In regards to gifts, she really wanted a lot of pottery glazes! ... and one of the other things I got her is a book that I made for both my students and my children that delineates the Catholic teaching on sexuality. This was the cover, which is meant to be humorous. Before I had children, I vowed I would give them this book whenever they entered their first love relationship.
