Helping Kitty Nurse
As in many first litters, mama bunny really didn't know what to do. Leia jumped right in, and the kits began thriving! The girls would help three times a day: upon waking, upon getting home from school, & before bed. Watching the babies nurse was hilarious. If one lost the nipple, the frantic search began. It looked like someone pressed a "fast forward" button!
Newborn Bunnies: Leia vs. Annie
Leia took the route of snuggling, education, and art. A natural at helping Kitty, you could immediately find Leia researching in the 4-h book, helping Kitty nurse, or even drawing a newborn bunny in her school notebook. Annie took the route of love, observation and worry. Annie loves these babies SO much that she was afraid to touch them. However, she will stand and watch for hours.

KITTY HAD BABIES!
We started wondering what was going on a few weeks ago when Kitty started gaining weight and digging incessantly in her cage. Then the girls felt "beans" in her belly and she would grunt When I tried to take her to lunch duty. We started suspecting that she was pregnant. We figured she was halfway through the pregnancy. Nope. We came home from shopping today and KITTY HAD BABIES! (Leia was happy to hold one, but Annie loves Kitty so much, she was worried to hold one yet. BUT I did catch a picture of Annie's EXTREME happiness!) Time for Leia to get out the 4-H book! We've gotta LEARN about this!
