Do-Re-Mi

Here, a word needs to be said about the real Maria von Trapp! :-) one thing that amazes me the most about Martha was that as she was growing up she absolutely loved the movie called The Sound of Music! First, put aside the fact that that is my own favorite movie, and imagine that young Martha would grow up to be the real Maria von Trapp, being a mother to almost seven children who were not her own! Martha said she always used to love the songs to that movie and used to sing them with her brothers and sisters. Well, I kept all of this in my mind. As we were driving along my favorite stretch of the Blue Ridge Parkway, I looked back at Martha and Robert who were both sitting in the back of my car and said, "Okay you two, this is probably the only chance in your whole life that you'll be able to do this, so right now get up and stand up out of the sunroof of this car!" Robert looked right at me and said, "Noelle, this is a once in a lifetime experience!" The newly married couple stood up out of that Sun roof! I was so proud of them! And as a special surprise for Martha, I have the CD set to the exact right place, and as they stood up, I blasted the song Do-Re-Me from Sound of Music! :-) I looked at Martha's face, as I was driving, and she was simply in awe. There she was, the real Maria von Trapp, looking at the mountains with her own captain! It was beautiful! Amazingly, Shana figured out what was happening while she was driving all of the kids in the van behind us, and was able to take this picture!

The Parkway with the Rabers

Meet the Amish!

The MOST important thing to the Rabers was to "meet our community," so we invited everyone local over for a big potluck dinner in honor of our friends. It was a beautiful night, and such a joy to watch ALL the children play together.
