Camp Willow Run: Leia & Shenan

Leia's is first experience with overnight camping was a great success! She joined her friend Shenandoah at Camp Willow Run for a whole week, on the border of North Carolina and virginia! The camp is on a beautiful lake, and all the campers stay in 1930's box cars! During the week, she learned how to sail and do archery with professionals! Her favorite activities were riding the "red shark," which is where she is pulled with many of her friends behind a boat on a large red inflatable, and trying cookie mush at the commissary, which was the kids very favorite dessert! She had a wonderful time, and has vowed to go back with Shenan the very next year! She had a wonderful camp counselor named Chrissy, who stayed in the boxcar with 8 other girls. I felt that Leia was very well taken care of, but I have to admit that as I exited the box car and getting ready to leave, I said "Oh my gosh, this is like mini-college!" I was also so proud to see Leia writing poetry during "Quiet Time" every day. As you can see, she sent us some wonderful letters!
