First Lake Trip with Shana & Harvest
Finally posting about this particular lake trip exactly five years later (to the DAY) was absolutely surreal. Shana and I have always had a spiritual connection, and the bonds created on this particular lake trip in regards to our friendship and our children were absolutely God-given. Harvest doesn't usually make friends with people easily, and Harvest and Leia were inseparable from the start, ... and watching Shana love on her Harvest was like watching myself love on the girls. Shana had always been "spiritual but not religious" but requested to learn the Rosary from Leia (shown in a picture below) and sewed a miraculous medal in an owl pillow for Annie. We talked often during this trip about how we were given this time even apart from Shana's abusive husband and my dear Grandma Betty being in her last days. It was a miracle that this trip happened. The most amazing part came in the fact that we would learn just hours later: Grandma Betty died the moment we left the house, giving us the time we all needed to bond in her last few moments. And on the ride home, Shana and I were floored by all of the connections we had experienced. I remember Shana repeating again and again, "... but how could you possibly know this?!?" Thank you, Saint Grandma Betty for helping Mother Mary to bind two of your Catholic servants together as friends for life.
