I knew this was going to be a big project and a labor of love, but I had no idea how much this craft was going to snowball! First was the cover. I really wanted it to be an amalgamation of many family photos through the generations including my family as well as Brian's family. Then I decided, why don't I just make a collage and frame it for myself as well? Then I decided, well I better label everything on the back so anyone who sees it could know who these people are. Then I decided to make two important chapter Pages full of pictures one of the kids cooking over the years, and one of the kids making Christmas treats over the years. I included both children because this book is going to be given to both Leia and Annie on the graduation from undergraduate university. My plan was to include all of the heirloom recipes and recipes that I have made over the years, but this snowballed as well because where I was first going to Simply have them typed which I already had a general Google Document of them, I decided to take pictures and include the original recipes written by the people. Then I decided that if it was one from The Old country like the Scottish eggnog from Grandma's family, or the special five meat spaghetti sauce from italy, I was going to include a picture of the Home Country on that page. Then I realized I also had to include the Christmas treat recipes because that was such an important part of their childhood. And finally, on the final pages of the book, at least the final pages of Leia's book, I included her very special graduation photos that Harvest took of her. Not everything is included here, just a sampling of some of the things that I included in the book. Stay tuned for a later post where I give this gift to Leia at her graduation dinner.
