Here we are back in Texas to film my absolute favorite show of all time: The Chosen! Today we filmed in season 6 the crucify him scene and the washing od.the hands, all in Pilate's courtyard which took more than a week of filming. Here I am standing behind the small part of the Jerusalem set that they have in Texas. Most of jerusalem, of course, is in utah. More about this portion of the set in a future post.
It was a super interesting take on the portrayal of Pilate in that this is the only interpretation that I've ever seen where Pilot really did not want this to happen and was pleading with the crowd not to do this to jesus. It was also the smallest area I've ever seen the scene filmed, most of the time there are hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of people in a large place but this was pilots Courtyard and was fairly small. I was also lucky that I scooped up a tiny bit of dirt from Pilot's Courtyard today because it would rain the next day and everything turned to mud.
Honestly, I probably won't be in this scene, but I was directly across from Pilate in the crowd, about 4 people deep. Due to my birthday, I was “pro jesus” so listen for FREE JESUS, CHOOSE JESUS, & NOOOOO.
Here let me mention how obvious it was that the fan extras are now really not part of the action as much. They are there to be given the experience of what it's like to be on the set, but chances of a fan being on film is very small. As a result, it was super lucky I was put in the teal group for the last day!
I will also say that because of the problems with fans in the past, absolutely no pictures were allowed on set and I 100% respected this rule. How I wish I could have shown what Pilate's Courtyard looked like! But we will have to wait for the show to be released.
