Oma's Bunny Trail 2010

This year, Oma created a fabulous, new Easter tradition: The Bunny Trail! We actually began the tradition a few days before Easter, so this post goes through the preparation and the results. : ) First, Oma created an art project for the girls: they announced the bunny trail for the Easter Bunny with their own sign. It is very significant in that Annie "drew" her favorite animal (a bunny), which means I had to draw it, and she colored it in. Leia used her imagination and drew a happy Easter Egg with arms and legs. : ) And, actually, it was weeks ago at our "Easter Party" at home that the girls drew all sorts of decorations for the Bunny Trail. I laminated all of them, so they could be rained on outside. Then it was time to do the hanging. You see, Oma's and Papa's land slopes down for quite a ways, leading to a stream and small waterfall. It is a path that I'm sure we will all traverse many times, . . . but today it was time to decorate it for the Easter Bunny! So, we did, including a special place at the bottom where the girls put their empty baskets (and the special bunny milk carton that Leia made in school). First, the girls posed in front of "Leia and Annie Falls" which is just a bit downstream from the bigger "Compare Falls." Then it was time to hang our creations! THEN, on Easter Afternoon, it was time to return to the Bunny Trail to find that the Easter Bunny had hung eggs along the trail and left full baskets at the bottom!!! The Easter Bunny also left chalk eggs, so it was time to do some chalk drawing with Papa. And what the girls REALLY wanted to draw was a giraffe, . . . which was as big as Oma! Afterwards, and as a special Easter surprise for Oma and Papa, Annie wanted to READ her first book to them, . . . her favorite: What Does Bunny See. It is our absolute favorite book about colors, . . . and I have read the book to her so many times that she has memorized the whole thing. Leia took a turn reading as well. Then it was time for Easter Mass . . .
