Today was one of Annie's highlights of the trip that she specifically requested, a helicopter ride above Volcano's National Park to the Kilauea crater! What was especially exciting was to see the places where the lava had flowed and created new land. The big island is still in a constant state of creation. It was also neat to see the crater itself which would erupt just a few weeks later! we did see where the lava was flowing into the ocean and creating a large cloud of smoke and steam. We also saw a lot of macadamia nuts fields! And our pilot was actually a Retired army pilot! And later we saw the new land first hand! ... and a few of the places that WERE new on our honeymoon were now breaking apart. Fabulous souveniers!
