Disneyland with April & Emily 2025: New Orleans Square

The exterior of the Haunted Mansion is very different in Disneyland compared to Walt Disney world. In Disneyland it is a New Orleans style mansion! The inside is a bit different too in that Madam Leota is not sitting on the table but floating above it! We got held up in that room for a bit which is always exciting. Walt Disney World has Liberty Square while Disneyland has New Orleans Square . So Disneyland's New Orleans Square had everything I had never seen before on the exterior. But my favorite bit of information about New Orleans Square came from the secrets of Disneyland book and involved antique fire Insurance plaques. In New Orleans at the turn of the century, if you wanted your house to be protected against fire, you had to purchase of fire Insurance plaque and put it prominently near your door frame. Walt Disney felt very strongly about the authenticity of the lands and Disneyland and wanted each New Orleans Square building to have an authentic fire Insurance plaque from turn of the century new orleans. Supposedly you can find all six on all six buildings. Because of time restraints, I didn't get to look for all of them, but I did find one!
