"Water, Water, BEACH!"

I thought I would title this particular post after Annie's water mantra. : ) Every time we go in the little pool or water slide together she splashes both her hands in the water and, with a smile from ear to ear, says: "Water, Water, BEACH, . . . Water, Water, BEACH!!!!" over and over again. : )

So today we invited the McNeils over for some fun in the water slide, pool, and sprinklers, . . . and everyone had a blast. As you can see, it got REALLY wild with three boys running around. Earlier that morning, Mamma had finally bought a thick carpet pad to go under the water slide to make it safe for the pavement (we got sick of muddy feet & ticks). The set-up worked GREAT! But everyone's favorite activity? . . . the HOSE! Ha! The kids had a blast making a kink to stop the water and then letting it go to squirt in someone's face! ; ) And I just had to laugh at Laurie today, . . . it took about an hour for her to stop yelling, "HEY! What are the rules here!!!! LOGAN, don't run on the green part!!!! TREVOR, slide on your belly only!!! COLIN, you're too big for that slide, you'll break it!!!!" Ha! It reminded me of my own mood about two hours before when I realized that whenever kids have fun on outdoor blow-up activities like this, . . . SOMEONE has to set it up. Guess who that someone was. ; ) And it reminded me of The Cat in the Hat Comes Back where there's a famous line about the mother forcing her children to shovel the snow: "Somebody, SOMEBODY has to, you see. So she picked out two 'somebodies': Sally and me."
Ha! And then Mamma decided that after the hubbub died down and our guests left, that it was a good time to give the girls baths outside. : ) And the girls had SO much fun playing naked on the water slide afterwards!!! ; )
