Shenandoah Ballerina

"Okay girls, for this picture give me a face that shows how you feel about ballet . . . "

Today Leia Rose offered to let Shenandoah try a ballet class, and (can you believe it) Shenandoah agreed!!! That is, . . . until she spotted the pink leotard and tights that she had to wear in order to participate. She almost reneged, but finally decided to just try something new, as long as we called the pink tights "pink doctor pants," let her wear her pirate sweatshirt, and didn't make her wear "that pink bow." ("Afterwards, I'm going to rip these clothes off. I'm just going to RIP them right off!!!") ; ) I was REALLY proud of Shenan for simply trying something she thought she wouldn't like, . . . all in the name of friendship. Truthfully, she really didn't like it, . . . can you tell by her face here? ; )

[I guess I should follow this up with a little something about Shenandoah, who has been friends with Leia Rose since they were only a few months old. Shenan and Leia Rose are similar in many ways, but different in many others. Perhaps it's these similarities and differences that make them such good friends and such a good match. I suppose here is a big difference: Shenandoah is a self-proclaimed tomboy. She loves pirates and Star Wars (she was Darth Vader for Halloween) and her best friends in Richmond are all boys (especially Jackson and Devon). She hates being called "Princess" or anything about princesses, she hates wearing "girly" clothes, she despises having "girly" hair styles, and loves monsters (especially the ones in Scooby Doo).]
Two friends showing great support for each other: Shenan willing to share in one of Leia's favorite activities, Leia holding Shenan's hand so she wouldn't feel afraid. Right before this picture was taken, Shenandoah said that she was actually scared. (In her defense, there were LOTS of prissy-looking dancers hustling and bustling about in there. Luckily, there were also lots of cool tap dancers doing their thing. I think Shenan decided that she would like to take tap!)
Looks like Shenandoah carried her I-really-don't-like-ballet face right into class as well. ; ) I can't help snickering a bit at the similarity to the first picture. ; ) I'm so proud of her, . . . she feels so out of her element, I'm sure.

Ah, to end with two videos that Laura and Steve can use for future blackmail of Shenandoah. ; )

How funny that she hates ballet & girlie things! ;) Hey, Kevin would LOVE to join Leia for ballet! ha! (I'm not so sure Mommy likes that idea though. ;) )
