Ballet, Bailey, & Beginning Christmas

Today was a really special ballet class! We found out that Leia Rose is going to be a Carousel Pony from Mary Poppins in the ballet recital this May!!! Leia Rose was measured for her costume today, which is a beautiful blue and pink sequined leotard (which only kind of looks like a pony, . . . and that's if you squint really hard). Turns out that Megan (her teacher) gets to pick the music, so today Leia Rose let her borrow our extended Mary Poppins CD collection, . . . which has a track called "The Carousel Horses"! I wonder if she'll use that? There are others that would work with it as well. It would be cool to really connect their performance to Mary Poppins, . . . considering the little ones have no idea what it means to be in Kensington Park (which is the more general title to the small-children recital). Jessie is going to be a Purple Lilac. Jessica is going to be an Ice Lolly. (What's an Ice Lolly?) There's one class that's going to be ducklings (quite honestly, the cutest costumes). And, of course, Leia's class is the Carousel Ponies. We can't wait!!!
Later, Bailey came over to deliver some clothes for Leia and Annie and stayed to play. Here they are in Leia's room with a really cool circle of dinos and eggs. : ) I can't tell you how amazing it is to have the hand-me-downs from the Revels!!! One of the girls is almost always wearing something or other from Bailey on any given day. : )
I originally had an idea of doing this for Christmas, but we went ahead and did it early, . . . today the training wheels and pedals went onto Leia's "Kitty Cat Bike." See, we originally took everything off of it to make it be like a "like-a-bike" to learn how to ride. Well, let her get the hang of it this way first, then we'll remove them again. I was wondering if the bike would be too small for her. Nope. Perfect! She went down to the cul-de-sac with Daddy to ride and wait for Heidi, who she really wanted to play with today. In fact, all I heard this morning was, "When can I play with Heidi?" "Can Heidi and I have a playdate today?" "Can I ride bikes with Heidi now?" "When are you going to call Heidi?" (Heidi, however, was watching a movie and couldn't come.)
Then we began Christmas, . . . because Brian got a surprise package from Auntie April: a small, red MP3 player, just big enough to hold all of Brian's favorite Christmas songs! (This was in response to our radio station perhaps not doing the songs this year. Last year they began on November 1, . . . not this time.)
The next step to beginning Christmas was to unpack all of the Christmas Books, CD's, and DVD's in the Christmas Trunk (which was mostly to stock Brian's new player with music). Then the girls watched the first part of Santa Claus the Movie and I filled the holiday bookshelf. Lots of fun! : ) Brian's comment all day was actually from Grandpa, who says that his goal one year is to give out M&M Holiday Candies for Halloween! Ha!

Fun! :) Do you have a special bookshelf just for Christmas? Or you clear off a shelf for Christmas stuff?
