Antiquing in Pittsboro

April's one wish for her vacation in North Carolina (besides finishing the mural and visiting with the girls) was to do some serious antiquing together. Today April got her wish! Here she is with Leia Rose in front of the Chatham County Courthouse in Pittsboro. (Note the monument to the Sons of the Confederacy. I always thought that was extraordinarily interesting!) We went into numerous antique shops today. April saw so many things she wanted to buy impusively, . . . so I implored her to ask a few questions (what year? well made? type of wood? have a story? etc.) And I made her take some refreshment at S & T's Soda Shoppe before purchasing. She finally decided on a really neat wooden box for toiletries from the 1950's and a tiny flat-file from 1934 with three drawers used for holding ink stamps from a printing company. Really nice pieces!

Here we are at S & T's. Check out that root beer float and real Cherry Coke!

And every time I gave a very hot Annie a taste of rainbow sherbet, she made this face. So she made it again and again and again and again, . . .

And Leia Rose cooled off with some mint chocolate chip ice cream. And, goodness, why didn't I think to take a picture of April with her antiques? Maybe I'll add on some extra pictures later.

Then it was time to take April to the airport and say goodbye to my wonderful sister (and fabulous mural painter). Thanks again, April! We'll see you soon!
